Strickland Statement on 53rd Anniversary of Equal Pay Act

Today, Ted Strickland released the following statement in honor of the 53rd anniversary of the Equal Pay Act.

"Anyone who understands what life is like for working people knows that equal pay is not just a women's issue -- it's a family issue. While the Equal Pay Act has done a lot of good, we still have a ways to go. It's frankly ridiculous that Ohio women are still only earning 78 cents for every dollar a man makes. But Senator Portman just doesn't get it -- he's voted 5 times against equal pay legislation, and that's yet another example of how he's pushing the agenda of his wealthy and well-connected friends at the expense of Ohioans who actually work for a living. In the Senate, I'll fight to ensure that women get the equal pay they've earned and deserve, and I'll stand up for Ohio's working women and families -- that's where I'm from, that's who I care about and that's who I'll always puts first.
